Riebeeckrand offers 18 athletics items to its learners. Coaching is available in each of these items. Our coaches regularly attend training and refresher courses.

Riebeeckrand has 2 rugby field and 8 rugby teams that are coached by our own staff, as well as by external coaches. All our coaches are BokSmart certified and have the necessary coaching qualifications. Two of the coaches are certified level 2. Our sports manager, mr. Janco Tiedt, is the secretary of the West Rand Rugby Region and is also part of the coaching team at Randfontein Rugby Club. We regularly have boys representing the Lions at u/16 and u/18 level.

Riebeeckrand has 7 netball courts and boasts with 10 netball teams. In 2016 brand new netball courts were built near the hockey and rugby fields. Dr Elsje Jordaan, a former Protea netball player and assistant coach to the Protea Netball Team (Fireballs) and various other teams, presents a most informative netball course to our netball players every year. We have girls who are included in the D2 and Gauteng netball team every year. Our 1st team is also conditioned by qualified biokineticist, Twanette Thoms.

Riebeeckrand has 2 hockey fields and 5 hockey teams for girls. Riebeeckrand also hosts a primary school hockey tournament annually when hundreds of primary school boys and girls play matches against each other on the Riebeeckrand hockey fields and, at the same time, learn about the finer techniques of playing hockey. One of our coaches, Ms Letsie Grobler, coached several times a South Gauteng hockey team. We boast regularly about girls who are included in the D2/D12 and South Gauteng hockey team.

Riebeeckrand has 4 cricket teams for boys and the makes us very proud. Our cricket pitch and cricket nets have been revamped, resulting in our players refining their technique.

In 2016 Riebeeckrand put together a girl’s cricket team, who has performed really well. Since 2016 girls were included in the Gauteng West Cricket Team as well as in the Central Gauteng cricket practice group.

Hoërskool Riebeeckrand has its own archery range and our archers are performing extremely well. Our archers are coached by Mr Frik Birkenstock and Mr André Esterhuizen. Mr Birkenstock has Protea colors in coaching and Mr Esterhuizen is a Protea player. We regularly have learners who are included in the Springbok archery team.

The jukskei at Riebeeckrand is performing well due to its top-quality coaching.  Riebeeckrand does extremely well every year. Each year we have learners who are included in the Gauteng regional jukskei teams as well as learners who are included in the SA and SA A team.

The chess players of Riebeeckrand participated in competitions and are improving their skills through regular coaching. Since 2018, we have had learners who are included in the D2 chess team every year.

Riebeeckrand enters a team of riders to participate in the Gauteng Equestrian Competition on an annual basis.
