At the beginning of their high school career the Grade 8 learners of Riebeeckrand get the opportunity to participate in the Grade 8 Concert. The Senior Council coaches the Grade 8’s and ensures that the concert is a success year after year.

Every two years Riebeeckrand stages a musical of distinction where learners are afforded the opportunity to explore their talents. The dance groups in the musical also get the opportunity to perform in competitions at the NEA, RACA and the Roodepoort Dance Festival. Every alternative year, we have a Culture Week during which all the culture items from the different activities get the opportunity to perform.

Our learners can choose to participate in individual or group public speaking. Riebeeckrand learners are given the opportunity to also compete in English Home Language. Each grade has one or two teams for the learners who prefer to compete as a group. Individuals and groups compete against other schools at the “Radikale Redenaars” competition, NEA and RACA. Each year the school hosts an internal public speaking competition for juniors and seniors.

Riebeeckrand already had 6 learners who made it through to the Nationwide final of the ATKV Redenaars competition. Four of these learners ended under the Top 10. 

Our Afrikaans Public Speaking (Redenaars) teams are also doing well and are taking part in the “Radikale Redenaarskompetisie”, RACA and NEA. An internal Redenaars competition is also presented annually for the juniors and seniors.

Our pom-poms have performed in the State Theatre since 2008. These learners are true ambassadors of our school. Our pom-poms also perform well at the NEA, RACA and the Roodepoort Dance Festival. 

Our pom-poms have already achieved a 1st place at the Roodepoort Dance Festival and they were also the proud winners of the Clash of the Titans competition as well as the Randfontein Show.

Riebeeckrand has had junior and senior drama groups that have performed excellently since 2005. Our drama groups participate in RACA and the NEA.

Since 2014 Riebeeckrand has reached new heights with its theatre/stage performance groups. Our educators that coach the various groups have years of experience. One of our coaches, Ms Annelize Erasmus, completed her BA (Drama and Theatre Arts) at the Free State University, as well as her Honours Degree in Live Performances at AFDA. Our plays participate in RACA, the NEA and at “Op Die Planke” Theater Festival.

In 2018 the interest in choral verse was reignited. Our choral verse team consists of 29 members and participates in various competitions.
